Zambia under-17 women’s national football team coach Carol Kanyemba has named a 37-member provisional squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 qualifiers.

Kanyenda will assess the bloated squad ahead of the two-legged second-round clashes against Tanzania’s Serengeti Girls next month in March.

A statement from the Football Association of Zambia says Kanyenda will assess the provisional squad for a week before selecting her final party. The tentative squad comprises the majority of players who won the 2024 COSAFA Under-17 Girls Championship in Johannesburg last month.

The Copper Princesses face Tanzania’s Serengeti Girls in a two-legged second-round clash next month in March. The first leg is scheduled for the first week of March followed by the reverse fixture a week later. Tanzania advanced to this stage after a walkover against Eswatini.

The winner between Zambia and Tanzania over the two legs will face the winners of the combined fixtures between Congo, Benin, DR Congo and Niger in the third round to determine the World Cup finalist.

The World Cup for this age group will take place in Morocco.
