Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya has expressed relief after winger Khama Billiat finally registered his first goal of the 2025 Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star scored his first goal of the season when Scottland FC drew one all against his former employers Yadah FC at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Ndiraye told Scottland FC media that his team should have won the game but it was not clinical enough up front in the first half.

“It was an interesting match; very difficult for us. We dominated the first half. We created many opportunities that we should have put away. We took the lead; opening the account for Khama Billiat. It was refreshing to see him scoring after going so many games without scoring,” he said.

“However, in critical moments of the games, we conceded a goal we should have avoided. In the second half, we tried to push up although we did not create many chances. In the end, we were desperate, pushing numbers forward trying to get a win but we were not sharp.”

Ndiraya added that his team was a work in progress, as its star players are yet to gel as a unit. “We have good quality but just good quality without being a good team is not enough. We are in the process of jelling the team to know each other,” he added.

The ex-Ajax Cape Town player was Scottland’s second biggest signing in the January transfer window after 2024 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier League Footballer of the Year, Walter Musona, who joined from champions, Simba Bhora FC.

Billiat, who opted against extending his contract with Kaizer Chiefs, spent last season at Yadah FC until December 31, 2024, when his contract ended.

The blonde-haired midfielder revived his career at Yadah, finishing as the second-leading league scorer with 13 goals and 10 assists. He also helped Zimbabwe to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The 34-year-old Warriors player hopes to lead the rookies to glory this season. Ndiraya's men are in third place in the log table, three points behind leaders MWOS FC after round six of matches.

Scottland will continue their hunt for maximum points when they host FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Monday, April 2, 2025.

In other results for Saturday, champions Simba Bhora thumped Manica Diamonds 4-1 while TelOne FC were 2-1 winners over Ngezi. Sunday’s results saw Kariba FC trouncing Kwekwe United 5-0, Highlanders edged Caps United 1-0, as Dynamos suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chicken Inn while leaders MWOS beat Herentals FC 1-0.
