Zimbabwean attacker Tawanda Chirewa has described his Huddersfield Town FC debut on Sunday as bittersweet following a barren draw with Reading FC.
Arriving on loan from Wolves, the 21-year-old debuted for Huddersfield when he was introduced in the 66th minute to replace Josh Koroma in the Championship game.
However, the Warriors player said while he was happy to debut for the Championship side, he could have been happier with a win.
“I found it a good performance from me, but it was a bit bittersweet as we didn’t win. I didn’t get a chance to get the end product like I wanted to. To finish off our losing streak, it is a good start,” Chirewa told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I feel like my game is about creating chances for other people and myself. I feel like I had the chance to get some chances and shoot myself, but today it just didn’t come off. I am hoping next month I can get off the mark. If it is an assist or a goal, hopefully, next week we can get a win.”
The Zimbabwean rejoined his parent club Wolves from Derby County where he spent the better half of the current season on loan. However, County opted against extending the loan deal of the Warriors player.
The 21-year-old initially linked up with the Rams back in August on a season-long loan from the Premier League side. Chirewa made six appearances in all competitions, of which five came in the league, during his time with Derby.
