Zimbabwe international Tawanda Chirema has talked for the first time since sealing a deadline day transfer move to Huddersfield Town from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The 21-year-old Chirewa spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan with Sky Bet Championship side Derby County before returning to his parent club earlier in January.

Speaking after penning the loan deal, Chirewa said as quoted by the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to be here and feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to join such a big Club ahead of a really important part of the season.

“I’ve heard amazing things from Nigel and Joe about what it’s like to play here, the facilities, coaches and the supporters, and can’t wait to experience all of that for myself.”

Chirewa added: “There were a few different options available to me, but coming to Huddersfield Town always felt like the right decision. Speaking to the Sporting Director Mark and Head Coach Michael only made me more certain, and now I’m just looking forward to getting started as quickly as possible.”

Born in Chelmsford, his youth career began with Ipswich Town before moving to the midlands with Wolves in September 2023, with his international debut for Zimbabwe quickly following in March 2024.
