Zimbabwean club FC Platinum's head coach Norman Mapeza has expressed his frustrations with teaching the current generation of football players the basics, even when they can learn from watching the best on international television channels.

The former Zimbabwean international said that in the past, players became better because they watched stars and tried to learn from them.

“These guys have so much to learn. There is so much football on television...they should take the burden away from us,” he told the media after his team’s one-all draw with Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

Mapeza said the current players have no excuse because they have so much exposure from watching multiple television channels.

“Don't tell me these guys can't watch what Vicious does? Don't tell me these guys can't watch what Garnacho does. There is too much football on TV. There is the Premier League. There is the Spanish League and there is the Turkish league. If they watch it on television, bring it to training and try it, it will work,” he said.

Mapeza is an award-winning coach who has managed the Zimbabwe national team. His club coaching career saw him play for Ajax Cape Town in South Africa and coached Chippa United in the PSL.
