Prince Dube cannot stop scoring as Azam maintain top-3 pace in Tanzania Mainland Premier League

Zimbabwe national team member and star of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, Prince Dube, made it 14 goals on the season with yet another strike in Azam FC’s comfortable 2-0 victory over Biashara Mara United on Thursday. His 11th minute goal got the hosts off to an excellent start and his finish was the trademark strike of a forward playing with maximum confidence, latching on to a bouncing long ball to lash home through the Biashara keeper. Azam’s second came within ten minutes after halftime when a patient buildup led to Mudathir Abbas attempting an ambitious curling effort that picked out the far corner over the sprawling keeper.

In the earlier match on the day, Ihefu came out on top in a battle of mid-table sides over Dodoma Jiji at home, 1-0. A cross was poorly dealt with by the Dodoma Jiji defense, resulting in a handball call and penalty kick awarded to the hosts. Ihefu forward Andrew Simchimba blasted his spot kick over the visiting goalkeeper and that was all they needed for the three points.

Azam remain in third place a point back of both Simba SC and Young Africans while Biashara stay in fourth, a substantial distance back from the top-3. Ihefu get a crucial three points to put some distance between them and the relegation zone among a crowded field in the bottom half of the table who are all within range of each other. The goals from both of Thursday’s games are below.
