Referee Bakary Gassama cleared to continue refereeing despite Algerian complaints

Referee Bakary Gassama continues to be the center of discussion and the top target of Algerian protests regarding their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying elimination against Cameroon, but despite the filing of a complaint by the Algerian Football Federation the Gambian official will continue with his duties. Gassama is set to officiate the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal first leg on Sunday between Orlando Pirates and Al-Ahli Tripoli as it appears the Algerian complaint will be dismissed with no sanctions against Gassama.

Football 365 reports that initially CAF was going to assign Gassama to the CAF Champions League semifinal first leg between Al Ahly and ES Sétif but decided against putting the referee in a match involving an Algerian side.
