Accra Hearts of Oak manager Samuel Boadu is out as manager following a meeting with the club’s board that resulted in a mutual termination of his contract on Tuesday. Boadu’s departure comes just two days after Hearts of Oak played to a 1-1 draw against rivals Asante Kotoko in Kumasi but a disappointing start to the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League season combined with an underwhelming 2021-22 campaign played a major role in sealing Boadu’s fate. Hearts of Oak under-20 team manager Samuel Nii Noi will take over head coaching duties on an interim basis until the club hires a new manager.
Boadu’s spell at Hearts came with plenty of success. Hearts have captured the last two Ghana FA Cups and the 2020-21 season was the peak of his success as the Phobians won both the FA Cup and most importantly the Ghana Premier League to complete a domestic double. A 2021 Ghana Super Cup and 2021 President’s Cup makes it five trophies for Boadu during his tenure at Hearts since joining as manager in March 2021, where he won the Men’s Coach of the Year for 2021 at the Ghana Football Awards as well.
