Sénégal – Ligue 1 : Teungueth FC sacré champion de la saison

A highly successful season for Senegal’s Teungueth FC saw them shock African football by eliminating Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League group stages to become the first Senegalese club to reach the group stage of the competition, performing admirably despite their eventual elimination. Now the Rufisque-based side has gone on to maintain their excellent form in domestic play, clinching Senegal’s Ligue 1 with two games left to play courtesy of a 2-1 win over Mbour Petite-Côte on Saturday. The result puts TFC eight points beyond Diambars and Génération Foot, who failed to defeat Douanes on Sunday to stay within reach.

Africa Foot United mentions in its story that Teungueth were the leaders in the 2019-20 season before Covid-19 put a premature end to the season, making this season a continuation of the club’s brilliant form. Below the link to Africa Foot United’s brief story is a video from the club’s YouTube channel with highlights from the win over Mbour as well as pictures of the resultant celebrations.
