There were no ill effects from an increasingly heavy schedule on Monday for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 2-1 DStv Premiership victory over Chippa United. Star attackers Themba Zwane struck first from the penalty spot and forward Peter Shalulile scored the winner in the 74th minute to move Sundowns’ league lead up to six points over AmaZulu.
Following a focused start from Sundowns that created Zwane’s penalty-kick goal, hosts Chippa were inspired after the halftime break and earned an equalizer through Nigerian forward Augustine Chidi. The league leaders were able to regroup and take back control of the match, and Shalulile’s winner came at the end of a composed buildup when his follow up effort was judged to have just gone over the goal-line.
