Club Foot de MontrĂ©al striker Kei Kamara announced his retirement from competing with the Sierra Leone national team after fourteen years with the Leone Stars. The 37-year-old led Sierra Leone to qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, helping the West African country to their first appearance at Africa’s biggest tournament since 1996 where they surprised all the experts by nearly making it out of the group stage in Cameroon.
Kamara scored 7 goals in 39 appearances for his country and will now focus on his club duties at CF Montréal in Major League Soccer, where he is fifth on the all-time scoring list with 130 goals in what is now his 15th season in the league.
