Simba fire manager Pablo Franco

After four years of dominating the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, Simba SC were forced to settle for second this season as rivals Young Africans clinched top spot in the 2021-22 season and decided to send manager Pablo Franco Martin on his way. The Spanish coach led Simba to second place and to the quarterfinals of the 2021-22 CAF Confederation Cup but his team failed to keep pace with a rejuvenated Yanga side in domestic football. Selemani Motola takes over on an interim basis for the remainder of the season for the Reds.

For his part, Franco refused to sign the initial termination letter stating that the document needs to be adjusted. Franco mentioned that he had no intentions on leaving the club but will end the contract once the unspecified issues are resolved in the termination letter.
