Simba maintain six-point gap on rivals Young Africans with Saturday victory over Polisi Tanzania

Simba SC maintained a safe six-point gap at the top courtesy of a 0-1 road victory at Polisi Tanzania on Saturday, a lead that is further secured by the fact that they still have two games to make up on rivals Young Africans. A free-kick was awarded to Simba on the corner of the Polisi penalty area and superstar winger Luis Miquissone lined up to take it. The distance and angle made it appear that a service into the box was the best idea, but the Mozambican boldly went for goal and unleashed a beauty of a strike that beat the Polisi keeper at his near post. Miquissone now has eight goals on the season in league play and eleven goals across all competitions.

Young Africans were also successful on the road with a 2-3 victory at Ruvu Shooting on Thursday. Tanzania national team midfielder Feisal Salum opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a spectacular goal, playing a one-two on the edge of the box before curling his shot beyond the Ruvu Shooting keeper. Poor passing out of the back plagued the hosts and it cost them once again only ten minutes after conceding the opener. An interception allowed a ball to be played inside to Salum and he let it run before finishing low for his second of the match. Ruvu got one back in the second half but Burundian magician Saidi Ntibazonkize put the match away with a clinical free kick close to 80 minutes.

Highlights from both games are below as Simba closes in further on clinching the Liga Kuu Tanzania Bara.
