Simba SC clinched yet another Tanzania Mainland Premier League title following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Coastal Union to complete an excellent domestic season that left little doubt that they would emerge as champions. John Bocco and Chris Mugalu each scored within the opening 25 minutes to help the club to a routine victory over the relegation candidates and establish a nine point lead over rivals Young Africans SC with two games remaining.

Gomes da Rosa cited a stretch in May when Simba secured four wins in a row as the point when he knew that the title was theirs to lose, the victories coming after the team’s surprise elimination from the CAF Champions League knockout stage by South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.
