In a match that was played in heavy rain, it was not done in style but ASEC Mimosas held off FC San Pedro for a 0-0 draw on Saturday to clinch the title in Ivory Coast’s top division. Manager Julien Chevalier congratulated his players and praised them for not allowing San Pedro to capitalize on opportunities in the first half that could have seen the second placed side snatch the title from ASEC on the final day. Linfodrome reports that current president of the Ivorian Football Federation’s Standardization Committee Mariam Dao Gabala and Ivory Coast national team star Max Alain Gradel were in attendance to see ASEC capture their 27th national championship.
