In a season that had a unique format compared to past seasons, Togo’s Championnat D1 concluded the four-team playoff stage with ASKO Kara defeating ASC Kara in the final on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw to repeat as champions in the Togolese top flight on Sunday. A 35th minute headed goal from Tchatakora Abdou-Samiou opened the scoring for ASC Kara but Tchakeï Marouf equalized for the eventual champions in the final five minutes with a brilliant free kick to send the championship game to penalty kicks. ASKO went on to win 4-3 in penalty kicks to complete their comeback.
