Training boycott leads to suspended wages and player exclusions at Egyptian club Al Masry

Egyptian Premier League club Al Masry’s issues with paying player wages further came to light when the team was competing against RS Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals, but the problems between players and management have been growing for a while and reached another flashpoint this week. After forward Amr Marei was fined 1 million Egyptian pounds ($54,111), another group of players are on the receiving end of fines after the majority of the first team boycotted training.

KingFut reports that Masry will be promoting youth team players for the team’s upcoming league matches and that those who walked out on training will be further investigated with 25% of contracts being deducted for those who are found to have taken part in the protests.
