Tusker FC remain top of FKF Premier League as Gor Mahia and KCB stumble

The Brewers of Tusker FC still remain top of the Kenya’s FKF Premier League following struggles by their title competitors on Saturday with Kenya Commercial Bank drawing 0-0 and Gor Mahia surprisingly losing 1-2 at home to Western Stima FC. Tusker now possess a narrow one-point lead ahead of KCB with AFC Leopards and Gor lurking in the distance.

Gor failed to get it going against Western Stima and Rodgers Ouma’s fourth minute goal started K’Ogalo’s misery when he ran onto a corner kick at the edge of the penalty box and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner. Ouma received two yellow cards in quick succession at the beginning of the second half for displays of insolence but Michael Karamor converted a penalty kick for Western Stima soon after and Gor could only get a late consolation through Geoffrey Ochieng in response.

AFC Leopards went down in the first half to Wazito FC when goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan made an inexcusable gaffe, fumbling a free kick shot attempt that was easy to handle before the ball was squared to Michael Owino for an easy finish. However, the visitors did excellently to gather themselves during halftime and came out renewed. Bienvenue Shaka equalized in the 56th minute by taking advantage of a cross fumbled by the Wazito keeper to put away the rebound. Halftime substitute Elvis Rupia completed the comeback with a penalty kick in the final minutes following the fouling of Hansel Ochieng in the Wazito penalty area.

KCB were held to a scoreless draw by Kakamega Homeboyz to wrap up the action featuring teams still competing at the top. In the other match on the day Mathare United failed to build upon their rare win last match by going down two goals by halftime to Posta Rangers, only tallying once after the halftime break and not having enough firepower to complete a comeback.
