A couple of intriguing matchups were on the slate for Tuesday’s action in the Uganda Premier League with a couple of clubs based from Wakiso District butting heads. Nothing could separate defending champions Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants in a 1-1 draw with young Giants talent Ibrahim Kasule opening the scoring in the 11th minute after Vipers goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza failed to claim a cross. Similar circumstances led to the equalizer for Vipers in the 59th minute when Hilary Mukundane turned in after Purple Sharks keeper Samson Kiriya spilled a long throw-in.
Express FC took down league leaders BUL FC 1-0 at home through a 12th minute winner from Allan Kayiwa. BUL FC’s attack was stifled throughout the match by a determined Express defense, leaving the Jinja club’s status at the top vulnerable. Tuesday’s other match saw strugglers Gaddafi FC receive a big boost with a 3-0 defeat of Soltillo Bright Stars. Alex Kitata’s hat-trick led the club associated with the Uganda People’s Defense Force into seventh place on nine points.
In Wednesday’s only match the Uganda People’s Defense Force club were defeated 1-0 by last season’s runners-up KCCA FC. Muhamed Ssenoga scored the game’s only goal in 10th minute before both teams ended with ten players due to a red card for each side.
