Egyptian Premier League champions Zamalek will be a much more formidable side after adding three more offseason signings this week to boost the club for the upcoming 2022-23 Premier League season as well as the CAF Champions League. Benin national team striker Samson Akinyoola signed a contract with the Cairo club after Zamalek submitted a €1.2 million transfer bid to Venezuelan club Caracas FC, giving the White Knights an excellent goal poacher.
In addition the club secured the signings of Egypt national team members Omar Gaber and Nabil Emad “Dunga”, both from fellow Cairo club Pyramids FC. Gaber is a versatile defender/midfielder who looks set to step in as the starting right back for Zamalek while Dunga is an energetic deep-lying midfielder who is excellent in possession. In addition to signings earlier in the offseason there is no doubt that Zamalek look like the team to beat now that they are freed from a FIFA transfer ban that spanned the last two windows.
Our scouting report on Akinyoola is below from his time in Venezuelan football.
