The Egyptian Premier League is currently being ruled by Zamalek playmaker Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” and there is no dispute about who has been the best performer in the 2021-22 season. The attacking midfielder leads the league in goals as well as assists and he was once again in sharp form on Tuesday by either scoring or assisting all five of Zamalek’s goals in a 5-0 destruction of last placed Misr Lel Makkasa. The White Castle are edging closer and closer to their second consecutive league title and it is inevitable at this point with a commanding seven point lead with four games to play.
Zizo assisted the opening goal in the 25th minute when a short corner kick caught the Makassa defense sleeping, allowing the playmaker to move in before floating a cross for Seifeddine Jaziri to head home his fifth goal in the last five games. Another short corner allowed Zizo to double the lead just before halftime by cutting inside and sending a low shot through the defense and past goalkeeper Ramadan Mostafa. Jaziri scored his second early after halftime before setting up Zizo’s second and then Zizo dispatched a penalty kick to complete his hat-trick. Zizo has 19 goals and 12 assists in a historic season for the 26-year-old.
Zamalek are seven points ahead of Pyramids FC who did their part to stay in the race with a 2-0 road victory over Ghazl El Mahalla. South Africa national team striker Fagrie Lakay scored his first goal in over two months after Islam Issa put a short cross back to the former Cape Town City player for an easy finish from seven yards out. Issa finished off the win himself after Pyramids once again got out on the break and Issa smashed his effort high and past Mahalla goalkeeper Amr Shaaban.
