Ivorian striker Aké Loba returns to Mexican football after ill-fated move to Major League Soccer

Aké Loba found success early in his club career in Peru and Mexico ahead of a big money move to the United States and Nashville SC in Major League Soccer but the Ivorian failed to find his scoring form in the Music City. The 24-year-old returned to Mexico on a transfer to top division side Mazatlán FC this week where Loba will attempt to rediscover his composure in front of the goal. Loba joins on a loan with an option to purchase, his new club hoping for more goals as they prepare to start the Clausura season this month in the midst of a relegation battle.

Loba, who arrived at Nashville from Monterrey for a large transfer fee of just over €6 million, only managed to score three goals and provide two assists in 44 appearances for Nashville after arriving as a “Designated Player” and becoming one of the highest paid players on the team. He has had success in Mexican football with 18 goals in 68 appearances during his time with Monterrey and Querétaro after showing much promise in Peruvian club football.

Mazatlán begin the Clausura with a matchup on Saturday against Club Léon. For more on Loba check out our scouting report below on the striker that was made before his move to Nashville.
