With numerous injuries and declining form it appears Al Ahly have accepted that their 2021-22 Egyptian Premier League title hopes are all but gone at this point and planning for next season is becoming the main priority. Egyptian outlet Btolat indicated that seven players are on the club’s unwanted list of players who will be leaving following the season and South Africa national team forward Percy Tau is the biggest name on the list. Tau’s struggles with injuries have continued on into his debut season for Ahly and he is joined by winger and former Simba SC star Luís Miquissone, who struggled to find his stride in Egypt’s top division.
Backup goalkeepers Ali Lotfi and Mostafa Shobeir, midfielders Mahmoud Metwally and Mohamed Mahmoud and also left back Mahmoud Wahid are the other players who will be looking for new clubs at the end of the current campaign. Ahly are currently in third place, eleven points back of league leaders Zamalek and four points back of second placed Pyramids FC with two games to make up.
