The group stage of the 2022 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations is just about complete after the weekend saw a large portion of fixtures take place with the semifinalists set to be determined following Monday’s matches. Three-time champions Senegal are looking strong in Group B, starting off their tournament with a dominant 10-1 victory over the Sand Cranes of Uganda on Saturday before defeating Egypt 6-4 on Sunday to wrap up first place. Uganda bounced back with a 6-3 victory over Madagascar and can lock up second place and a semifinal berth with a draw or victory against Egypt.
In Group A, Morocco are in good position to advance following a 3-1 victory over hosts Mozambique on Sunday. The two teams are tied on three points atop the group with Morocco set to face off against Malawi, who need nothing less than a win to qualify for the semifinals. For Mozambique, the defeat means they are likely to face in-form Senegal in the semifinals.
