There were no surprises on Friday as two clubs punched their tickets to the group stage of the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup to kickoff this weekend’s series of second leg matches. Morocco’s RS Berkane did enough to qualify for the group stage with a 1-0 home victory over Bendel Insurance of Nigeria. Oussama Lamlioui scored just before halftime to finish a 3-2 aggregate victory for the Orange Boys who have won two of the previous four editions of the Confederation Cup.
South Africa’s SuperSport United utilized a second half surge at home, scoring three goals after the break to confirm a 4-1 aggregate victory over Gaborone United of Botswana. Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro provided two goals and club legend Bradley Grobler added one more in stoppage time for Matsatsantsa who previously finished runners-up in the 2017 edition under current Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler.
