Afcon Qualifiers: ‘Uganda not looking for excuses’ – Mubiru ahead of Burkina Faso date

It has been a lengthy period since Uganda’s last qualifying games for the Africa Cup of Nations but with a new coaching setup and poor results against South Sudan in November, the pressure is on the Cranes to secure qualification in their final matches. Coach Abdallah Mubiru didn’t show any frustration at the late arrivals of some key players due to difficult traveling circumstances and maintained that the Cranes will be ready to go on Wednesday in Kampala against Group B leaders Burkina Faso. Uganda are one point behind in the second qualification spot with three points separating them from chasers Malawi.

Goalkeeping leader Denis Onyango is among the players who will have less than a day to adjust due to playing club football abroad but Mubiru indicated his plans took into account the potential late arrivals. The Daily Monitor speaks with young left-back Mustafa Kizza, a rising star in Ugandan football currently at CF Montreal in Major League Soccer who could make his debut appearance for the senior national team.
