Nigeria defeat Lesotho 3-0 to wrap up successful week in AFCON qualifying

It was a comfortable win for Nigeria on Tuesday to make it 2-for-2 on the week following their 3-0 victory over Lesotho in Lagos. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the first half before assisting Oghenekaro Etebo for the second early after the halftime break. Paul Onuachu made another successful substitute appearance by scoring shortly after coming on in the 76th minute to complete the routine victory.

Osimhen’s 23rd minute strike came as the result of slack goalkeeping by Lesotho’s Sekhoane Moerane, the quick forward lobbing the goalkeeper as he advanced to collect a through ball. The Mosotho defense held out well in the first half before a flurry of opportunities created by Nigeria put the game to rest in the second half. Osimhen laid off to Etebo in the box for the Galatasaray midfielder to put home in the 50th minute and the three points were secure for the Super Eagles at that point. Onuachu was set up by fellow substitute Henry Onyekuru in the 83rd to continue his campaign to lead Nigeria’s front line.
