Algeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League will need only draws in their upcoming games this weekend to ensure they advance to the quarter-finals. On Friday, CR Belouizdad will travel to Group B leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with hope that they can obtain a result against a team that has long secured qualification. Struggling in Algeria’s Ligue 1, CRB are currently being led by an interim manager and will be dealing with a couple of injuries as well going into their trip to South Africa.
On Saturday, MC Alger must obtain a draw at Espérance in Tunisia to secure their passage to the next round or else they risk elimination if Zamalek can defeat Senegal’s Teungueth. The Algiers-based side will have several players out due to injury as they will be in a similar predicament to CRB by hoping to get a point at a difficult opponent who is already qualified for the next round.
