Simy on target yet again for Crotone, Ejuke and Moses score in Russian football to lead charge for Nigerians abroad

Crotone’s relegation from Italy’s Serie A is guaranteed at this point but it hasn’t been because of underperformance from their star striker Simy Nwankwo. For the second consecutive season the tall striker has reached the 20-goal mark in league play for Crotone and his latest, a strike in the third minute of second half stoppage time, doomed Benevento’s attempt to get themselves out of the relegation zone.

Nigerians excelled in Russian football on Sunday with Chidera Ejuke and Victor Moses both finding the net. Ejuke’s goal came in the 79th minute to help CSKA Moscow equalize against rivals Dynamo Moscow, but was in vain as Dynamo found a late winner to prevail 3-2 and keep CSKA from qualifying for European competition through their league standing.

Moses’ goal on the other hand was a crucial tying goal that ended up putting Spartak Moscow into the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages next season. Spartak’s 2-2 draw in Chechnya against Akhmat Grozny lifted them a point above Lokomotiv Moscow on the last day to achieve an important season target.

Soccernet Nigeria and All Nigeria Soccer report on the goalscoring success of each Nigerian playing abroad and videos of each goal are below to accompany links to the stories.
