Amical : Algérie-Mauritanie (4-1), des Verts à deux visages et à réaction

The Fennec Foxes of Algeria made stretched their unbeaten streak to 25 games following a 4-1 friendly victory over Mauritania on Thursday. Algeria took a while to get into the game but found the opener with a 40th minute header from Soufiane Feghouli, who followed up his shot that went off the crossbar. The hosts allowed Mauritania back into the match after the halftime break by conceding a 56th minute equalizer to AS Vita Club midfielder Sidi Yacoub. Algeria goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja could have done better on a clearance and was forced to scramble back to his goal, failing to keep out a speculative long range effort from Yacoub.

However, Algeria were not deterred and asserted their dominance soon after conceding. Feghouli showed good instincts in the penalty box again and put the Fennecs back up only three minutes later before Adam Ounas made it 3-1 only a couple of minutes after. Baghdad Bounedjah wrapped up the scoring in the 71st minute to make the victory reflective of the difference in quality shown on the day.

La Gazette du Fennec describes the match as a tale of two halves with plenty of experimentation in the lineup from Algeria coach Djamel Belhadi resulting in a sloppy first half. According to the daily, Algeria were content to play long balls which played right into the plans of Mauritania who maintained a defensive shape before being more creative in the second period.
