Zamalek are doing well to maintain their 2 point lead at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table by making it six wins in a row with a 0-2 road victory over El Ismaily on Saturday. Emam Ashour and Seifeddine Jaziri provided the goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half to lift Zamalek over a stingy Ismaily side who spoiled Al Ahly’s title chase hopes with a draw in their previous match. Zamalek now have a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions and have the title within sight.
Al Ahly are doing all they can to keep Zamalek within distance, and did their part with a 2-0 win over ENPPI in Saturday’s later match. Leading scorer Mohamed Sherif was out due to injury, but Walter Bwalya took advantage of a rare start up top by heading in the opening goal within the opening five minutes before playmaker Afsha made it 2-0 with a 28th minute strike.
