World Cup Qualifiers: Rohr Invites 30 Super Eagles Players

Nigeria’s squad is finally released after a delay due to the status of Super Eagles players based in the United Kingdom and whether they would be able to partake in international action. In response, manager Gernot Rohr has called in a larger squad to include UK-based players as well as seven players to replace those who will be forced to return to British football after the opening September 3 match against Liberia. Nigeria’s second match on the road, against Cape Verde four days after the home Liberia clash, will take place in the island country that is on the UK’s “red list”, which will keep British-based players out because of the lengthy quarantine they would be required to undergo upon returning to their clubs.
