Following a sudden coup d’etat in the West African country of Guinea that has led to an apparent change of regime, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchup between Guinea and Morocco originally scheduled for Monday in the Guinean capital of Conakry. The Moroccan national team had arrived in Conakry for the match by the time the coup was carried out, but a Royal Moroccan Football Federation official told AFP that the team was safe in a location away from danger and that substantial progress had been made in the process of evacuating the team from the country.
