BBC Sport Africa has the latest on South Africa’s attempts to swoop in on short notice and host the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup. South Africa Football Association (SAFA) spokesperson Dominic Chimhavi indicated that talks “were very, very encouraging” following SAFA president Danny Jordaan’s discussions in Nigeria with FIFA president Gianni Infantino and FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, and that further steps are being taken to see what needs to be done on SAFA’s end as far as their hosting duties.
