AFCON 2021: CAF confirm squad increase from 23 to 28 players due to Covid-19 risks

In order to accommodate any team that has to deal with a substantial amount of players being unavailable due to Covid-19 outbreaks, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that rather than the usual squad size of 23 players, participating teams at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations will be allowed 28 players. Along with the increase in squad size, CAF confirmed that teams will be allowed the standard three substitutions during games as opposed to five.
