Safa protest a fool’s errand, claims GFA

The fallout continues from Ghana’s controversial victory over South Africa to clinch their spot in the final round of FIFA World Cup qualifying last week, with the South African Football Association (SAFA) launching a formal protest to FIFA over the 1-0 result that went in favor of the Black Stars. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is showing no sympathy for its South African counterpart, however, and requested that FIFA outright dismiss SAFA’s protest in a letter to the world football governing body due to SAFA failing to follow proper procedures in lodging its protest. A controversial penalty kick call in favor of Ghana led to André Ayew’s match winning goal from the spot, leading SAFA to accuse match referee Maguette Ndiaye of clear bias towards the hosts.
