Africa Cup of Nations: Players can now stay with clubs until 3 January

Despite the efforts of European clubs to prevent their players from competing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, there has been an arrangement made between clubs and CAF regarding when players will leave for international duty. Through FIFA, CAF has agreed to allow players called in from abroad to join their national teams on January 3 rather than the originally mandated date of December 27. BBC has more on the agreement, which will come as a massive relief to English Premier League clubs in particular due to the fixture congestion around the new year.
