With European clubs and CAF coming to an agreement for the delayed release of players based abroad who will be competing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria is an example of a team who needs extra players in camp due to having the majority of their squad based abroad. Nigerian media reports that a handful of players based in the country’s NPFL are in camp to fill out numbers in training and act as standbys for any players in coach Augustine Eguavoen’s squad who drop out. Many of Nigeria’s squad members based in countries like England or Spain will not be in the pre-tournament camp until the new year.
