Osimhen contracts COVID-19 second time, pulls out of AFCON

Reports of Nigeria and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen being out for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon grew in volume over the course of the last 24 hours and now it is confirmed that the 22-year-old star will be out. Osimhen was due to have another test on the fractured bones in his face to determine if he could compete in Cameroon, but Osimhen contracted Covid-19 and was unable to make the appointment. With Napoli concerned over his participation in the first place due to the early return from his facial injury, it appears that Osimhen decided in the end to avoid the controversy of “club vs. country” by pulling out to avoid risking another potential injury.
