Gambia forced to cancel Cup of Nations warm-up games because of Covid

A high amount of Covid-19 cases within the Gambia squad caused the Scorpions to cancel an arranged tune up friendly against fellow Africa Cup of Nations participants Algeria on Saturday, only hours before the teams were set to meet in Doha, Qatar. 16 of Gambia’s 28 players were unavailable to take part due to illness and other factors, but there were hard feelings on the Algerian side due to the late cancellation. Gambia will have to carry on without the warmup match as they look ahead to their first AFCON Group F matchup against Mauritania.
