Whenever Nigeria qualifies for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles are a threat no matter what their form looks like heading into the competition. The last time Nigeria failed to qualify out of the group stage was in the 1982 edition when there were only eight teams in the competition, and since then the only time they failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals was when Ghana hosted the 2008 AFCON.
