Despite exceptional circumstances in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations knockout stage defeat to hosts Cameroon, the Comoros national team went out with honor and stand-in goalkeeper Chaker Alhadhur’s performance was admirable. However, CAF was not amused by the sight of the full back wearing a goalkeeper kit with his number taped on the back and announced a fine to the country’s football federation of $5,000 for “not respecting shirt numbers”. In addition, fines of $2,000 and $10,000 were also dealt out to Comoros for delaying the kick off by two minutes and for not respecting Covid-19 protocols.
