Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” scored Egypt’s match-winning goal in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals after coming back from a long-term knee injury to join up with the team, and now the 27-year-old winger will be at a new club when Egypt’s run in Cameroon concludes. The Aston Villa player completed a loan move to Turkish club İstanbul Başakşehir where Trezeguet has found previous success, having accumulated 25 goals and 18 assists in 71 games. The Egyptian never looked to be part of recently hired manager Steven Gerrard’s plans and the loan move will give him valuable playing time.
