Egypt center back Mohamed Abdelmonem did not anticipate playing a role at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, but the 23-year-old has been massive stepping in for the Pharaohs due to injuries. Previously on loan from Cairo titans Al Ahly to newly promoted Egyptian Premier League side Future FC, Abdelmonem’s performances in Cameroon have been so good that Ahly decided to recall him back to his parent club on his 23rd birthday. Abdelmonem made four league appearances with Future and also spent last season on loan where he made 21 appearances for Smouha over two seasons.
