The Egypt national team incurred the wrath of the Confederation of African Football for failing to turn up for a pre-match press conference ahead of their 2021 AFCON quarterfinal against Morocco. After journalists and CAF officials waited over two hours for the team, a $100,000 fine was imposed on the Egyptian Football Association. $50,000 of the $100,000 is a conditional fine that will come into play if the Egyptian team neglects its media obligations again.
