Orlando Pirates take care of business at home with CAFCC victory over Algeria’s JS Saoura

Algeria’s JS Saoura nearly scored in the opening minute for a dream start in Johannesburg, but hosts Orlando Pirates gathered themselves and struck the opener soon after on their way to a 2-0 victory in CAF Confederation Cup play on Sunday. Defensive leader Happy Jele tallied an easy close range finish in the 3rd minute after Goodman Mosele’s volley was parried right into the path of the Pirates captain to give the hosts an ideal start.

The encounter was even throughout but Pirates showed composure on the defensive end and took advantage when opportunities were presented. In the 66th minute the Bucs put the match away thanks to an excellent team buildup. Playmaker Thembinkosi Lorch set up Deon Hotto on the left wing and the Namibian’s cross was met by a streaking run from Bandile Shandu, who made no mistake on his finish from close range to make it three points for the South African side.

Highlights of the match are below.
