The impact of Covid-19 on player availability has decreased over time in African football but it appears that Al Ahly and Morocco center back Badr Benoun has been feeling long term effects and complications. The Egyptian Premier League leaders announced that the 28-year-old will need extra time to rest and still has another month and a half out before he will be back with the team. Benoun had tested positive before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the year while on international duty with Morocco.
