After making a 10,000 km trip up to Algiers, Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy try again for their first ever CAF Champions League group stage victory against a CR Belouizdad side that will be expecting three points. The Algerian champions are on fire at the moment and will look to deal a final blow to Galaxy’s faint hopes of advancing from Group C with a fourth straight win.
CRB earned an important midweek Ligue 1 victory against a tough Paradou AC side with Brazilian manager Marcos Paquetá admitting his team’s excellent form during a congested schedule has surprised him. Le Chabab’s defense led by center back Sofiane Bouchar has plenty of experience and continues to be a formidable unit. Leading scorer Kheiredine Merzougui has been in hot form with nine goals but look out for former Leicester City reserve team player Ali Reghba, who scored on his debut against Paradou.
Jwaneng Galaxy have played with nothing to lose during the group stage and despite appearing to be out of contention to win the Botswana Premier League this season, they have been competitive in two of out their three Group C games. Galaxy will need to avoid the disastrous start they endured against group leaders Espérance because failure to get a result may result in them being eliminated from contention with two games to go. Leading scorers Thabang Sesinyi and Wendell Rudath have combined for over half of the team’s goals this season and are capable of making things difficult for CRB.
