Baba Yara Stadium to host Ghana vs. Nigeria World Cup playoff tie

Ghana’s stadium situation has been resolved ahead of the national team’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff matchup against Nigeria later this month following news that the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi will be the venue for the first leg on March 25. Independence Day celebrations left the pitch of the Black Stars’ usual home, the Cape Coast Stadium, in less than ideal condition causing Nigeria to raise questions over whether Ghana should be able to host their home leg.

The home of leading Ghana Premier League club Asante Kotoko underwent substantial renovation for the current season with FIFA and CAF inspectors approving the venue for use. The Ghana Football Association has more on the change in venue in the link below.
