2021 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner Vincent Aboubakar was surprisingly substituted at halftime by Cameroon manager Rigobert Song during the Indomitable Lions’ 0-1 home defeat against Algeria in FIFA World Cup qualifying, but video of the captain limping on his way to the locker room provided more clarity on the reasons for his premature exit. Song provided more detail after the match, stating that a recurring heel injury was the reason for Aboubakar’s exit but that the Saudi-based marksman will be available for Tuesday’s second leg in Algeria.
